- It was the dawn of time -- the early 1980's. DeLoreans and mullets roamed the Earth. And Art Sturtevant was doing stand up comedy. It was a golden age -- a time of laughter and Ginsu Knife jokes and Lee Trevino imitations, but it ended suddenly in 1985. What happened? Some say he was frozen in a liquid nitrogen accident. Others say he took a series of field management jobs with national corporations. Just as suddenly as he'd disappeared, Art surfaced again in the open mic venues of 2010.

ReplyDeleteSorry its taken me so long to comment. I know you are craving feedback but I have had a hard time watching these videos. Not because you stink (we will get to that later) but it is almost like watching myself I guess. I get all red faced and have to turn it off but I will do this!
I thought you did a much good job with the bit about "line up ladies." That worked a lot better than in the previous video which was your first time out in Asheville? The wording in both was almost the same but you flowed better on this night and seemed almost off the cuff.
At first I cringed when I heard your old man voice (I guess because I've heard it before. a lot.) but the jokes seemed to work and the audience was into it. Have you tried the same jokes in your own voice? I liked where this part was going but I think you you should try to pause a bit between each joke. I had trouble hearing the third one because of the laughter.
The joke about super heroes and cursing needs a little refinement.
The part about your son was great. I especially liked that it was a funny story and not just a one-liner.
The video quality isn't that great but you come across as very calm and comfortable on stage. Your voice seemed natural. Wow. I get dry-mouth just thinking about talking in front of people. Bye for now. Next video and comments tomorrow.
